My Story

Originally from Chicago, I’ve spent nearly equal parts of my life in Chicago, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area. I've had the blessing of studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, F.I.T. in NYC, Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in Rome, the Sorbonne in Paris, and Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. I earned my BA from DePauw University, where I studied under master painter Robert Kingsley.

After graduation, with two suitcases and two guitars, I headed to New York City in search of adventure at “the Center of the Universe.” Wide-eyed and in love with everything, I was lucky to meet inspiring people who pushed me to deconstruct and reconstruct who I was. I had the privilege of assisting feminist art pioneer Mary Beth Edelson, fell head over heels for fashion while working in PR at Ralph Lauren, and played the ad game at Ogilvy & Mather, assisting creative genius and 1-800-number innovator Bill Hamilton.

At night, I painted, barbacked in the East Village, and started a rock band. One day, an ad executive told me, “Corporate America will always be here. Follow your dream.”
I was. I did. I am.

In the heart of NYC’s Lower East Side, I found my tribe. I played shows at local clubs like CBGBs, the Continental, and Arlene’s Grocery. I worked at Loho Studios as a project manager, restoring the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio (RSM). My world became a tight-knit group of creative hipsters running around south of Houston Street.

Eventually, my band hit the road, and I set off to discover America (and a few lands across the pond) up close and personal. For several years, we toured non-stop—sometimes two shows a day, over 300 shows a year, across 23 countries in 30 days. Getting to know every rock club, gas station, coffee stop, and most importantly, the people across our vast country has been one of the coolest experiences of my life. “We the people” are pretty awesome—and the landscape isn’t too shabby either.

We recorded along the way, releasing work on labels including pop artist Frank Kozik’s Man’s Ruin, the UK’s Small Stone Records, Mudflap Records NYC, and High Times Magazine Records.

Today, I call San Rafael home. I make art, make music, and love my family. In the mornings, I walk my dog Zeke and chat with my best friend. I’m constantly in awe of California’s landscape and beaches. I dig boxing. And my heart still goes kerpow at the mention of Chicago-style deep dish pizza.

Much love and gratitude to my mom and dad for always telling me, “You can do anything if you dream it and set your mind to it.”

And much love and thanks to my family and besties (you know who you are) for always being there. You bring me joy and the strength to keep dreaming—and to chase all the amazing moments.
